Weigh-In 15 & 16

Last week I was in route back to The Fort from St Louis for Wednesday Weigh-In.  My brother, Trent, and I left for Kansas City around noon on Monday for a Pearl Jam concert.  Tuesday morning we headed across the state to St Louis for another Pearl Jam show...did I mention that Band of Horses opened for Pearl Jam.  Seeing two of my favorite bands on the same stage made these two shows must-attend-events.  Anywho, I'll blame the road trip for the lack of posting last week.  I'll also blame the road trip for the 0.8 pounds I gained in week 15.

Week 16 had better results.  I went to see Nurse Suzie earlier this morning.  The results were better.  I lost 2.2 pounds in week 16.

So, in the past two weeks I'm at -1.4 pounds dropped.  I know that's not the 2 pounds per week average I'm shooting for.  After all the BBQ that was consumed in KC and the peperoni and jalapeno stromboli in STL...I'll take these results and work harder for better results next week.

Okay...Seriosly, This Time I'm Really Back

It has been a crazy couple of weeks...

Yes, I have taken a break from blogging.  I have not taken a break from the Benjamin Droppin'.  I am pleased to announce that after putting on a golf tournament for Girls Inc, working on YEL stuff, planning a community kickball tournament, and going to Kansas City and St. Louis for a couple of Pearl Jam concerts...I AM BACK!!!

Daily Food Diary: For real this time, it's live and running.  I've found an awesome website (thanks Jimmy) for tracking daily caloric intake.  Fit Day is going to be a great tool for maintaining this part of the blog...bonus points for being able to access it on my phone

Wednesday Weigh-Ins: Back on schedule.  Nurse Suzie will verify I've been going by to see her every week.  I just need to be more diligent posting the results.  What fun are Wednesday Weigh-Ins if the results are posted on Thursdays and Fridays?

Chick-fil-A: Once again, I want to go on record proclaiming I should be the spokesperson for this great American restaurant.

BTW, I'm almost halfway there...results from today's Wednesday Weigh-In will be posted shortly.

Weigh-in #14 and 15

Last Wednesday's weigh-in results went in the wrong direction.  I gained 1.8 pounds, eliminating the progress from the previous weeks.

I do have good news.  Today's weigh-in saw a correction.  The numbers on the scale retreated 4 pounds from the previous week.

Weigh-In #13

What can I say?  I took the week off from the food diary.  I'll admit it.  I needed a break from the monotony of daily posts about what I ate.  However, I will continue with the posts about daily caloric intake.  I know people anticipate and enjoy reading about what I'm eating (hello Maggie).

The "What I Ate" posts will return on Monday, April 19th.

I weighed in this morning with good results.  I dropped 1.4 pounds for the week.

Weigh-In #12

Wednesday was a good day.  I dropped 1.8 pounds for the week.

Weigh-In #11

I was a little worried going to the doctor's office this morning.  I had a weekend of not-so-good food picks:  hot wings on Friday...Mexican Food on Saturday....pizza on Sunday.  None of those foods fall into the healthy lifestyle category.

That being said, I had a successful week as far as Benjamin Droppin' goes.  I dropped 2.4 pounds.

I'll take it even though I feel like I don't deserve it this week.

Weigh-In #10

I'm slammed at work this week, so I have to keep this short.  I do have good news.  I'm happy to report that I dropped 3 pounds this week.

Weigh-In #9

This week I dropped 4.2 pounds.  That's over 30 pounds dropped in seventy-ish days.

Thanks again for all the support.

Weigh-In #7 and #8

I'm back...kind of

Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth.  The past few weeks have been extremely busy.  I'm proud to say that I have stayed away from fast food, soda and all the bad stuff.

The weigh-in on Wednesday, March 3 ended the streak of consecutive weeks with a weight-loss.  I gained 1.8  pounds that week.

The weigh-in on Wednesday, March 10 delivered good news.  I was back on the weight-loss train with a loss of 1.8 pounds.

Sooooo, I'm back to the exact weight I was at for the end of February.

Weigh-In #7

The day leading up to Wednesday was strange.  I worked a full day on Tuesday but was asked to come back to the office at 10pm Tuesday night to lead a training session. Sacrifices have to be made when a company never closes.  The brunt of the sacrifice was realized first hand as I drove home from the office at 3am Wednesday morning.

After about 5 hours of sleep, the work day started again.  Cramming 8 hours of work in a day shortened by catching a few hours of sleep made for an extremely busy Wednesday.  I didn't get to weigh-in till 4:45pm. All I wanted to do was sleep by the time I was able to get in front of a computer to post my Weigh-In Wednesday update.

Enough with all that...how about some results?

Once again I kept the "every-other-week" streak alive with a loss of 5.4 pounds.  That pushes the total to 27.6 pounds dropped since January 4th.

With this weigh-in I've passed the 25% mark.  There is a long way to go but I'm going to get there.  This diffcult journey would be a huge burden without all the emails, phone calls, and pats-on-the-back I've received in the past 51 days.  I'm getting a ton of support from family, friends, friends-of-friends, and Facebook fans.  I am truly thankful for all the support.

72.4 pounds to go.

Weigh-In #6

So, what do you think about the new layout and picture?

I've been in a training class at work all day Tuesday and Wednesday.  I did sneak away for Wednesday Weigh-In yesterday.  I say sneak, but I went during a break and was back in time when the class resumed.

The good news is that I lost 0.4 pounds.

The bad news is that once again I missed my 2 pounds per week goal.

Looking back at the last four weigh-ins, I've noticed a trend of "lose-a-little" one week, "lose-a-bunch" the next week.

1/27  4.6 pounds
2/3  0.6 pounds
2/10  5.6 pounds
2/17  0.4 pounds

Strange...

Here's to next week being in the "lose-a-bunch" column.

Weigh-In #5: Back on Track

This is more like it...

I'm happy to report a successful week.  Even with dining out more than I expected and Superbowl Sunday, I was able to drop 5.6 pounds this week.  That gets the total to over 21 pounds.

Weigh-In #4

The trip to the doctor was a little bittersweet today.  I continued the streak of losing weight.  It just wasn't what I expected.  I lost a pound...one stinking pound.  I missed my goal of 2 pounds a week for the first time.  If I were dieting I would be a lot more annoyed and disappointed.  However, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet.  So, I will end my annoyance and disappointment with this post.

Weigh-In #3

I went to the doctor's office earlier toady.  I had another successful week and I'm excited to announce that...

I dropped 3.6 pounds in the third week.

Weigh-In #2

I just got back from the doctor's office.  This time I wasn't anywhere close to the 9 lbs lost like last week.  However, I was above my goal of 2 lbs a week.

I dropped 2.8 pounds the second week.

Weigh-In #1

Today has been extremely busy.  Actually, this week has been a blur.  I apologize for not posting today's "What I Ate" entry.  I'll double up tomorrow.

Anyone know how to type out the sound of a drum roll?  I have the first week's results.  I was a little shocked with what I saw on the scale for the second week in a row. This time it was good though.

I dropped 9.2 pounds in the first week.

Needless to say, I didn't expect that big of a drop in a week.  It felt good walking out of Dr. Clardy's office knowing I had dropped 9.2% of the Benjamin (the math was easy to compute), but I know the journey is far from over.  Let's call this a good start.

You're Not Supposed to Curse at the Doctor's Office

So, I went to visit Dr. Clardy. He introduced me to Susie, his wonderful nurse that will be conducting the weekly weigh-ins. Susie asked me to step on the scale and I nervously obliged.

I stepped on the scale and was shocked at the numbers. I said something totally inappropriate for a doctor's office and stepped off the scale.

Wow...wow.

I apologize to Dr. Clardy, Nurse Susie, the staff, and patients for the expletive. I'm sure when my mom reads this I'll have to research the caloric content of soap.

Anywho, I'll post the starting weight when we finish this journey in 12 months or so. I will be posting the change of weight every Wednesday after lunch.
